About Kate Poon

Kate Poon has over twenty-five years of teaching individual piano lessons, specializing in beginning to intermediate level.  She maintains an award-winning studio, with students earning top prizes in the HK Schools Music and Speech Art and passing the Associated Board of the Royal of Music Examination with Distinction. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Music degree from Utah Valley University.

Noteworthy accomplishments include a diploma of Associate of Trinity College London, 8th Grade Piano in Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), 8th Grade Piano in Shanghai Conservatory of Music, the certificate programme in Music History and Theory and the Professional Diploma Programme in Performance Practice (Piano) in School of Continuing and Professional Studies the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She also has a Dalcroze certification from Teachers Training Program in Harmony Road Music Courses Inc. 3.

She enjoys serving as an adjudicator for music competitions, including The International Music and Arts Competition and Greenery Music Foundation. She is also an active accompanist for numerous choirs, vocalists, instrumentalists and church congregations. 

Kate is also a professional makeup artist who worked for Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Gucci, Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels Jewelry and etc. She loves watching piano recitals, orchestras and anything related to classical music.
